Remarks. Chevrolat (1833) described M. flavipennis based on one male from Brazil. Later, Blanchard (1848) described M. impressicollis based on a female also from Brazil, which he thought to be a male: “Notre individu est long de 60 millimetres, et nous semble appartenir au sexe mâle [Our specimen is 60 millimeters long, and appears to be male.]”

Currently, it is known from Brazil (Goiás, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul), Paraguay, and Argentina (Misiones) (Monné 2024c; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023).
