Kophosphaera mammifera Attems, 1936, new status
Kophosphaera excavata, ssp. mammifera Attems, 1936: 188 (first description) Kophosphaera excavata, ssp. mammifera — Jeekel 2001: 16 (list).
Habitat. India: Sureil, Darjeeling distr., Eastern Himalayas; Khasi Hills, Assam.
Deposited. NHMW 100/188 (Stagl & Schiller, in prep.).
Remarks. The first description with illustrations (Attems 1936: 18) clearly shows and describes characters quite distinct from K. excavata, which warrants full species status of this former subspecies. The descriptions of the anterior and posterior telopods (Attems 1936: 18) display characters unusual for Kophosphaera . A restudy of the type specimens of this species is necessary to clarify its generic status. Such a restudy is beyond the scope of the present study.
Distribution. This species was described from Sureil in Darjeeling, India, near the border to Nepal.
