Lectotype (Fosberg & Sachet in Allertonia 6: 207, 215. 1991): Herb. Hermann 1: 27; 3: 35; 4: 36, No. 64 (BM).

Current name: Hedyotis auricularia L. ( Rubiaceae).

Note: Rogers’ statement (in J. Arnold Arbor. 68: 154. 1987) that the type is “presumably” in the Hermann herbarium is too uncertain to effect typification, but that of Fosberg & Sachet is accepted here. Although the relevant specimens are scattered through three volumes of Hermann’s herbarium (BM), they appear to be part of a single gathering.
