Hedysarum caput-galli Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 751. 1753.

"Habitat in Galloprovinciae littoribus maris." RCN: 5541.

Lectotype (Kit Tan & Strid in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 471. 1997): Herb. Burser XIX: 135 (UPS) .

Current name: Onobrychis caput-galli (L.) Lam. ( Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Jafri (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 86: 142. 1980) and Rechinger (Fl. Iranica 157: 401. 1984) both treated 921.68 (LINN) as the type. However, this material came from Allioni and was received long after 1753. Kit Tan & Strid designated a specimen from the Burser herbarium, cited explicitly in Linnaeus’ protologue (and hence a syntype), as lectotype.
