Lectotype (Johnston in Contr. Gray Herb. 81: 67. 1928; Nash & Moreno in Gómez Pompa, Fl. Veracruz 18: 84. 1981): Browne, Herb. Linn. No. 179.10 (LINN) .

Current name: Heliotropium fruticosum L. ( Boraginaceae).

Note: Johnston clearly treated Browne material in LINN as the type but did not distinguish between sheets 179.10 and 179.11. However, they may well be part of a single gathering so Johnson is accepted as having typified the name (Art. 9.15), with Nash & Moreno having restricted the choice to sheet 179.10.
