Arachnomura Mello-Leitão, 1917: 136 (type species by original designation: Arachnomura hierogyphica Mello-Leitão, 1917); Galiano 1977a; Ruiz & Maddison 2015; Maddison 2015; World Spider Catalog 2017.

Diagnosis. Arachnomura resembles Cyllodania, Atomosphyrus, Thiodina, Hyetussa and Tartamura in having spine-like setae on the anterior surface of male chelicera (Fig. 8A; Galiano 1977a: 143). The genus differs from Cyllodania and Atomosphyrus by not having projections on the male chelicera (Fig. 8A; Galiano 1977a: fig. 10); from Thiodina and Hyetussa by its filiform embolus (Fig. 11A); and from Tartamura for not having the black metatarsus in leg I and for having a scattered pattern of the spine-like setae on the anterior surface of the male chelicera (Fig. 8A; Galiano 1977a: 143).
