Family Squalidae

According to Ebert & Stehmann (2013), three species of the genus Squalus are recognized in the North Atlantic ( S. acanthias, S. blainvillei and S. megalops), but S. blainvillei and S. megalops may represent a species complex.

The taxonomic arrangement of Squalus species is provisional, pending the review and resolution of the S. blainvillei and S. megalops complexes.
