Distribution. This species is widely distributed in Africa, in Tanzania, Somalia, Chagos Archipelago, Madagascar and Mauritius. It has been introduced into Florida, USA, and in the Caribbean it is found in St.Kitts- Nevis and the Virgin Islands (Shelley & Edwards 2004). In South America it has been recorded from urban areas of Venezuela (Caracas) and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro city), where it is probably also an introduced species. In Colombia R. longipes was reported from a costal area in the Caribbean Región.
Altitudinal range. Known only from a locality at 44 m.
