Type locality: Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai province, Thailand.

Type material examined. Paratypes: Chiang Mai, 10.v.1989 [1♂, 1♀, TOCO] .

Additional material examined. Myanmar: NE Kachin, Chudo Razi, vi.2004 [1♂, GMOC] .

Diagnosis. This species is closely allied to S. rex and S. rosannae, with which it shares the strongly projected and upturned clypeus of major males, as well as with S. besucheti and S. tsaii . See the diagnosis of S. rex and the identification key provided below for further details.

Remarks. This species was described from Thailand and never recorded again after the original description.

Distribution. Thailand (Ochi et al. 2004), Myanmar (new country record).
