TYPE LOCALITY: Burma, Chin Hills, Haingyan, 80 km north of Kindat .

DISTRIBUTION: Assam (India) to Thailand.

COMMENT: Probably not a subspecies of bowersi; see Marshall, 1977, in Lekagul and McNeely, pp. 405, 443, who included this species in Rattus (Berylmys); see comment under genus.
