COMMENT: Includes brevimolaris, coelestis, nigellus, rallus, and koka; see Musser, 1973, Am. Mus . Novit., 2511:24. Formerly placed in subgenus Maxomys of Rattus by Laurie and Hill, 1954:118; but see Musser et al., 1979, J. Mammal., 60:592-606 (who revised Maxomys), Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat. Hist., 168(3): 246, and Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat. Hist., 169(2):115- 117, 137, who placed this species in Bunomys .
