COMMENT: Possibly conspecific with mystacinus; see Neithammer, 1978, in Niethammer and Krapp, eds., Handbuch der Saugetiere Europas, 1:311; but also see Williams et al., 1980, Mammalia, 44:245-258, who suggested that krkensis is conspecific with sylvaticus . KFK agrees with Williams et al., 1980.
