DISTRIBUTION: S. Russian Turkestan, N.E. Iran, and Afghanistan to N. India and S.W. China.

COMMENT: Includes rattoides; see Schütter and Thonglongya, 1971, Proc. Biol. Soc. Wash., 84:171-174, and Musser et al., 1979, J. Mammal., 60:599; also see Corbet, 1978:139. Gromov and Baranova, 1981:143, employed the name rattoides for this species, without comment.
