DISTRIBUTION: Cameroun to S. Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia.

COMMENT: Subgenus Praomys; see Misonne, 1974, Part 6:27. Included in morio by Delany, 1975, Rodents of Uganda; Ansell, 1978:82, considered jacksoni a distinct species, but did not mention Delany, 1975.
